On November 14th, the District Youth Exchange committee conducted interviews at North Platte with high school students applying for Rotary International Study Abroad Scholarships. Five outstanding students from Sidney (2), Hastings (2) and Kenesaw/Kearney (1) were selected to represent District 5630 for the 2016-2017 school year. We are now in the process of finding exchange matches for these students with our overseas partners. It is an exciting time for all of us involved in Youth Exchange.
Sidney, Hastings and Kearney have been asked to consider hosting a student from August 2016-July 2017. However, we will likely need placements for two more students, which presents an opportunity for other communities to share the unique international experience of Rotary Youth Exchange.
Please discuss sponsoring an exchange student at an upcoming meeting. Club commitments for hosting need to be submitted by February 1, 2016.
