PolioPlus Challenge Results from PDG Ron Bazata
I am pleased to announce that after only four months, the $25,000 Polio Plus match in our District has been completed!!
As you may remember, the Bowman Advised Fund from Kearney made a generous $25,000 gift late last year. The family graciously allowed our District to use the 25,000 Paul Harris points and begin on a quest to offer the points on a first come first served basis to any Rotarian in the District on a matching basis on a cash gift of $100-$500 to the Polio Plus effort.
The results of that opportunity raised $25,300 from 70 Rotary members from 16 clubs. The Kearney Noon club had 32 members that gave $12,987 followed by the Grant club with seven members giving $3300. St Paul had three gifts for $1300 as well as Cambridge with five members giving $1300. Alliance and Chappell both contributed $1000.
I am very proud of our District and I intend to continue to publicize this $50000 contribution to the fight against Polio. If there are any other individuals, businesses or foundations in our District that would like more information about how this was done and an explanation of how they too can join us in the fundraising for this major cause, I would be happy to discuss it further with them.
